I began my blog at the beginning of last year, almost a year ago. You can click here to read my very first post. In that post, I defined a few things I wanted to do in 2017, and now I smile with thankfulness looking back at that post.
2017 has been a wonderful year. My brother got married to the absolute best sister-in-law and friend, they bought a beautiful home, my parents moved where they’d wanted to be for quite some time, and I bought a house close to both! Most of all, we’ve had a great time this year. I’ve seen miracles happen and prayers answered. It’s been a year of laughter, celebration, thankfulness, and happiness. At the beginning of 2017, I asked for new, good, and beautiful things. This year, I’m grateful for the new, good, and beautiful things God brought into my life.
My heart is full of gratitude, and now, as I look ahead to 2018, I await a whale of a sequel. 🙂
For 2018, I actually have several little resolutions I want to stick to like reading The Skimm, working less, finding a balance with gym life, yada yada. But my prayers for this year are continuations of last. First, I want to continue to work on my posture toward God, to bow to Him, to know that “He must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30), and to yield to His will, not the one I want to create for myself. Second, I want to be others focused. John Steinbeck wrote, “I wonder how many people I’ve looked at all my life and never seen.” I don’t want to look at people and not see them for who they really are. To add to that, I believe when Jesus told us to love others (Matthew 22:36-40), He meant for us to feel with others, to walk through life helping each other and holding hands. Our God is a compassionate God (Psalm 103:8), and I want to do more serving this year. Finally, I want to dig deep into studying Scripture, to grow in knowledge and in faith, and to, in turn, write truth.
I am prayerful that 2018 will be just as great of a year as 2017. Cheers!
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33
